5-days hands on training on the e3.mn model and simulation of climate finance adaptation and mitigation in Mongolia

21.11.2025

During the week of October 6–10, 2025, an interactive training session organized by GIZ and conducted by GWS was held on topics related to the Mongolian E3 (economy-energy-emissions) model e3.mn, attended by partners from the Bank of Mongolia and the Ministry of Economic Development.

Dr. Anett Großmann, Frank Hohmann, Dr. Christian Lutz, and Peter Dreuw discussed the following topics, which had been suggested in advance by the participants, with their Mongolian partners:

  • How can policy-makers use evidence-based simulation results from climate finance adaptation and mitigation scenarios?
  • Data update of the e3.mn model
  • Regression analysis with R and e3.mn
  • Internal model relationships between the economy, energy, and emissions modules
  • Programming in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)

A special event during the workshop was the reception at Osnabrück City Hall hosted by Dr. Häs, who explained to the Mongolian guests the special significance of Osnabrück as a city of peace.
