Measuring Social and Employment Impacts of NDC policies using Green Jobs Assessment Model (GJAM) in Egypt

Egypt is a signatory to the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, reflecting the country's commitment to supporting global contributions to limit climate change. In 2022, the country has updated its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and developed several sector-specific mitigation and adaptation measures.
Climate action, sustainable development and just transition are closely linked. The impacts of the NDCs have been scarcely explored for Egypt. Thus, the project aims to inform on the economic, social, and environmental impacts with a focus on jobs and decent work.
For this purpose, an Egyptian “Green Jobs Assessment Model” will be developed with national partners and subsequently applied to quantify the effects of mitigation measures.
