Employment effects of future environmental protection measures

Against the background of the European Green Deal, which strives for a comprehensive socio-ecological transformation towards a climate-neutral, resource-efficient and competitive economy, and the digital transformation, which affects almost all areas of our society, sectoral and macroeconomic analyses of demand and employment effects of selected digital developments as well as ad hoc analyses of current political or economic developments will be carried out. To this end, a literature review of the current state of research will first be used to identify links between digitalization, environmental protection and employment. The scenario-based model calculations to quantify the effects of selected digitalization trends on demand and employment are intended to reveal synergies between digitalization, environmental protection and employment as well as conflicting goals and skills shortages. Political recommendations for action will be developed on this basis.
