IAB Research Reports on the long-term consequences of demography and structural change for the labour market published

04.03.2020

Since 2010, the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) and the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) have been collaborating with GWS to produce a baseline projection of the long-term development of labour demand and supply according to qualifications and occupations every two years. Two research reports recently published by IAB shed light on the long-term consequences of demography and structural change for the labour market .
The IAB Research Report 1/2020 "Langfristige Folgen von Demografie und Strukturwandel für regionale Arbeitsmärkte" presents the extended QuBe baseline projection with regard to regional breakdown. Here, the data used, methods employed and analysis options are the main focus. It also includes comparative results at the level of the federal states.
The presentation of results at the level of the labour market regions is being prepared within the framework of a research assignment of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and will therefore be published separately.
The second research report "Langfristige Folgen von Demografie und Strukturwandel für die Bundesländer“ (IAB Research Report 2/2020) devotes a chapter to each federal state in order to present detailed results for the federal states. It thus supplements the IAB-Forschungsbericht 1/2020.
